Holy Cow Paintings

by Karin Padden

The artist seeks to capture the spirit of her subject in a bold contemporary image, rather than create a photo-realistic representation.

This is generally achieved by finding a connection to the subject through his/her/their gaze and by using the emotive quality of color, creating a unique Expressionistic work of fine art.

Using loose brush strokes or by working solely with a palette knife, Karin depicts the subject with vigor and energy. The resulting style is sometimes rather cubist in nature, while some other pieces have been likened to the style of Georgia O'Keefe.

Drawing on influences by the Expressionistic painters, Karin also chooses an unusual color scheme for each piece she creates, searching for the colors that speak of the soul and temperament of her subject.

The end product is bold, playful and modern.
